blog management

dec 11th

no more anonymous comments. you have to be a registered blogger user to comment.

i thought i'd do this partly because i'm traveling for a few days, and won't be logging in much, if at all. and partly because people have been urging me to do this for some time.

nobody going to the IFFK-10 in trivandrum? i've been dying to hear how deepa mehta's 'water' was received. also about the other films that are being featured there. i have been told the IFFK is a pretty good film festival. never been to it. how does one get passes? i could arrange to be in trivandrum at this time next year.

did anybody read the news about race riot in a sydney suburb in aus. guess who were involved. mahamads again. peace loving mohameddans going for a swim getting attacked. my ass. i never heard about mahamads swimming culture or going to beach life style before.

it all started last week it seems when these mahamad's attacked two life guards. that's right life guards. some say its been simmering for some time because of their behavior with white women. oh god, i never heard this before!! i thought mossis will always treat women of other religion very respectfully. disgusting bastards. what elese did they do, oh yeah they also burnt an aussie flag. just like they do every where. as recently happened in kerala.

i am really surprised to see the aussis organise the way they did and retaliated. aussie goverment may behave like a complete ass sometimes but the people, based on my experience when i lived there, are not that bad. their history may be very ugly, but they must have changed a lot recently or atleast acting as if. any way good going aussies.

mossies retaliation - car burning. as they did in france. 100 cars were burnt in one night.

more to come. keep following.

moral of the incident. protect your country and society from mossies. never trust them. never let them in. period. or this thing will happen again and again and agian.....

I agree with Darkstorm, and it
occurred to me after I replied to
the anon-christist, that actually
most of my teachers had been proper
Hindus. Only the effect of a few
pious nuns made us constantly think
of sin, punishment etc. And we were
innocent kids absorbing all that.

I had to unlearn a lot after those
years.

Seeing DarkStorm's Xian school
description, I have to say I went to a very lovely christian school.

There was discipline and fairness
and good moral values were taught.
We sang both Christian and Hindu
songs. I liked many of the Xian
songs, to be honest. And we had a
Hindi music teacher who taught us so many bhajans and all kinds of
music, from all over India, true
to the very cosmopolitan nature of
the town we were in. She was a
South Indian.

The only problem was, some of the
moral science teachers were pious
nuns, and we ending up thinking
in terms of sin, Lucifer, Satan,
punishment, hell and we even wrote
on these subjects in our exams,
and it influenced our behaviours.
Many of us ended up thinking that
way, until we were old enough to
question it all and look for other
answers. Also they sometimes made
comments on Hindu topics which they
werent qualified to. For example
burial vs cremation. One Sister
criticised the latter, saying how
can you be so cruel to someone you
loved ? Of course I got that
clarified at home, but some people
just went with her opinion. And
then there was this forced weekly
charity to a regularly visiting
missionary charity.

Otherwise I have only good things
to say about the school I went to.
It was full of good people.

Yea its the right decision to stop anon comments. If nothing we atleast get a handle for response.

BTW, the new cash-on-camera scandal that hit the headlines is a clever ploy by Congress to take some heat off of Sonia and Volcker report.
Apparently most of whom were "caught" were BJP MPs.
BJP should learn such tricks from Congress. When it is tough to handle the pressure create a scene somewhere else and divert the nation's attention.
Check out who was the journalist behind this. Does the name Anirudha Bahal ring a bell? Yes, the same b@#%$ who used prostitutes to get his Tehelka expose
Bahal is clearly on Ms Gandhi's pay roll. Clearly there's a much bigger force behind him. Anyways, the point being BJP needs to have its own Bahals.
And come to think of it. What were the MPs really doing? They were raising questions on behalf of some business houses. Isn't that the way it works here in US too ? Except that it is institutionalised. Honestly every politician is morally bankrupt. But sadly media will allow to take Congress the high moral ground. Clearly a very well executed ploy by the Congress.
BJP is way behind in realpolitik.

Off Topic -

If I may comment on some exchanges
regarding one commentator Toney, in
the previous Russian Church post
(please refer back to it for the
context)-

Although I started writing comments
here only some 2 weeks back, from
what I've seen of Mr.Toney's posts,
he has been very respectful in his
statements, and he also called the
Russian Archbishop's statements
deplorable, in response to an
earlier article from Rajeev which
said Krishna had been called a demon.

So dont think Toney deserved to be
called any names at all.

Everyone is entitled to his/her
opinions, and I hope no one is
required to agree with the blog
owner or any commentator to
post his/her views on anything.

We all need to strive be respectful
while trying to convince others of
our points of view.

I will probably choose hereafter to
discontinue posting comments here
if certain minimum standards of
mutual respect are not maintained.
It is something I consider
important.

And maybe I really dont have any
more fresh insights to offer on these subjects. And besides, this
blog is currently mostly opinion-
oriented, not solution-oriented,
though, that may change at some
point in the future, as the blog
evolves.

It was good reading and exchanging
thoughts here for last few days. I
learned quite a few things.

Thank You & Regards to All,
Savitha R.

Thank you, Savitha R. Are you the same Savitha R who posts here frequently? Reason for my q being, I thought Savitha R's username was Savitha and not Daisies.
I visit this blog not to meet like minded people, all agreeing obediently with whatever Rajeev has to say. My main attraction to Rajeev's work is that he digs up all sorts of interesting material, particularly about India's splendid history. Obviously, I dont agree with the kind of packaging that he uses to convey the information but that or his views on religions are not reason enough to stop coming here.

As for some of you who may not know what this is about, read the comments here. Once again, I dont intend to insult anyone.

PS: I hope nobody says that Daisies and Toney are the same person.

San,
Why should anyone bother to go to West Bengal where even the IT sector is not spared of unionisation? Whatever that old commie Buddadeb says, doesn't matter. His friend's in the media are going out of the way to portray him in positive light. But that does not change ground realities of Bengal.
In the meantime the person the elite English media hates the most , Mr. Narendra Modi is going great guns. BJP has
swept the Gujarat civic polls.
Yet another score by Modi over media.

Toney,

I used to sign with my name,
Savitha R, but I didnt register
as a blogger.

After Rajeev's new rule to stop
anon postings, I has to register
and took the name "daisies", but
I continue to sign as before,
with my name.

So now "daisies" = Savitha R.

Yes, Rajeev posts a lot of
interesting things. The diversity
is simply amazing and his insights
are also helpful. Thanks Rajeev!

DarkStorm,

I did try looking for all of Toney's past comments before
commeting here. I did a search
from the upper left corner
of the blog home. It yielded no
results. It does not return
anything for any blogger name.

In the absence of such info. I
based my comments on last two
weeks' observations. I thought
it told me enough about the person.

I also studied the language employed in Toney's comments and
the anon's comments. They did not
appear to come from the same
person at all.

I chose to give the benefit of
doubt to Toney, whom you called an
anonymous, even though he signed
as Toney quite often.

Anyway, I wont be commenting here
again, so not to worry.

Regards, Savitha.

Darkstorm,
I concur with your view. I believe Modi is the best thing to have happened to Gujarat in a long time. Critics be damned.
Yea Gujarat is high on infrastructure development as well. When i last visited Gujarat it was already way ahead of Maharashtra (from where i belong) as far as highways go.
Since Modi is media's bete noire , if you wiill, Gujarat's progress under Modi will never be made public. Lest they face Ma'm Gandhi's wrath

But in a way its a good thing. Look what too much hype did to B'lore. Gujarat is developing all round. And its better that it is out of focus of the trouble makers. Let Gujarat grow without being under scrutiny.
