The author is too shy to say Muslim Terrorists - Kashmiri Militants seems to be the preferred term! I thought the co-ordinated attack is the Al-Qaeda signature.

Death toll at 105 in India train bombings

Seven bombs hit Bombay's commuter rail network during rush hour Tuesday evening, killing at least 105 people and wounding more than 300 in what authorities called a well-coordinated attack. India's major cities were put on high alert after the blasts, and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called an emergency Cabinet meeting.

Chaos engulfed the crowded rail network in India's financial capital following the blasts that ripped apart train compartments as authorities struggled to treat the wounded amid heavy monsoon downpours. Doors and windows were blown off the train cars, and luggage and debris were strewn across the tracks.

Police Chief A.N. Roy said on Indian television that an estimated 100 people were killed and more than 250 were wounded.

"We are busy in the rescue operation. Our first priority is to rescue the injured people," he said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility in the bombings, which came in quick succession — a common tactic employed by Kashmiri militants that have repeatedly targeted India's cities.

A senior Bombay police official, P.S. Pasricha, said the explosions were part of a well-coordinated attack. Vilasrao Deshmukh, the chief minister of Maharashtra state, where Bombay is located, said bombs had caused all seven blasts.

Indian Home Minister Shivraj Patil told reporters that authorities had had some information that an attack was coming, "but place and time was not known."

The first explosion hit the train at a railway station in the northwestern suburb of Khar, said a police officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.

India's CNN-IBN television news, which had a reporter aboard one train, said a blast struck a first-class compartment as the train was moving, ripping through the compartment and killing more than a dozen people.
Some of the injured frantically dialed their cell phones.

Another CNN-IBN reporter said he had seen more than 20 bodies at one Bombay hospital.

The Press Trust of India, citing railway officials, said all the blasts had hit first-class cars.

Pranay Prabhakar, the spokesman for the Western Railway, said all train service had been suspended and appealed to the public to stay away from stations in the city.

The bombings in Bombay came hours after a series of grenade attacks by Islamic extremists killed eight people in the main city of India's part of Kashmir.

Kashmir was divided between India and Pakistan in war after they gained independence from Britain in 1947, and they fought another full-scale conflict over the region in 1965.

But even as the two nuclear rivals have talked peace in the past two years, New Delhi has continued to accuse Pakistan of training, arming and funding the militants. Islamabad insists it only offers the rebels diplomatic and moral support.

Is it more than ironic that the same day India gives $25 Million to Pak we have a bomb blast in Bombay and J&K

Sonia to Pak- "Here take this money and go and kill our people.. reduce our population.. go have a ball... you jehadis..".

Sonia to India - "You fools.. maintain piss.. and let me celebrate Italy's World Cup victory"

Even before the complete details of the blasts in Bombay and Srinagar were out, we got the following assurance from the UPA government:

===================================
Srinagar blasts will not derail Indo-Pak
peace process: Duggal

New Delhi, July 11: The Centre today said the serial grenade attacks in Srinagar will not affect the ongoing Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) and the process process with Pakistan, and claimed that the security agencies have definite leads about those behind the incidents which claimed seven lives and left 31 injured.

Union Home Secretary V K Duggal told mediapersons here that no organisation had claimed responsibility for the five grenade blasts that rocked Srinagar, but the security agencies were confident that they had leads and would get those behind the incident immediately.

''The CBMs will continue. The peace process will not be slowed down because of today's incidents,'' he said.

''At the same time, we will continue with strongest measures against those who are involved in terrorist activities,'' Mr Duggal said.

Mr Duggal said the CBMs had made impact on the people. ''Nothing comes easy. It will take time to take on forces trying to derail the ongoing peace process.''

Terming the incidents a cowardly act, he said it was unfortunate that innocent people and unsuspecting tourists were the target of attack.

He said the government was more concerned because the militants chose to attack ''the softest of soft'' targets. ''This makes us work hard.''

Mr Duggal said the Home MInistry had been in constant touch with the Jammu and Kashmir government.

Asked if there was a dip in the number of tourists visiting Kashmir because of a few militant attacks on them in the recent past, he said, ''Initially there were tourist cancellations. However, things came to normal soon. However, the spirit of tourism has not died down in the state.''

He, however, agreed that the number of tourists visiting the state would not be more this year as compared to last year. ''It will not be too low either.''

The Home Secretary said out of the seven people who were killed in today's grenade attacks, six were tourists from West Bengal.

He said arrangements have been made for air transportation of the bodies of the victims to West Bengal.

Mr Duggal did not give a reply when asked if the government would issue advisory to the tourists against visiting Jammu and Kashmir. (UNI)

Is this a self-exploding train carriage, just like the famous instant combustible carriages of Godhra, designed by the wily Hindus to blame the followers of Religion Of Peace?

Among other things, doesnt Ramola-whoever she is, know that 'Bombay' is 'Mumbai' ?? People mistakenly believe that Bombay was changed to Mumbai. No, it was always Mumbai for the local people, the British arrived and changed it to Bombay. Hindus are such losers.

After the Mumbai blasts, the looser Sivaraj Patil says " the people of J&K have been facing this terrot for many years and they will continue to face it " Man..he is cocksure that he is not going to stop the terrorists.George Bush is much better at least he utters some brave nonsense in a strong voice. Our govt is sooo meek that they cant even shout loud...like their Jihadi friends.

Our Media is much worse. Never in those telecasts they mentioned that it could be a "terrorist" attack. Man...they are shit scared to mention the word "terrorist".

I'm neither Indian nor a Hindu, but I too see the clear bias in this article.

"Terrorists" clearly don't target Indians...that's ridiculous. You've inspired me to write about this too. Thanks.

I have not seen any headline that says the truth, namely, that 150+ Hindus were killed; or that terrorists targeted Hindus (in Kashmir, they attacked tourists..mostly Hindus). As usual, the media is talking about the Spirit of Mumbai, and Rajeev and others are targetting their bias. There is no proactive bias on the other side. Shame on our creativity.

" and Rajeev and others are targetting their bias."

-- After all, the term "kashmiri militant" is in vogue these days, no one says "islamist terrorist" though the term would be accurate.

Rajeev's posts do create more awareness.
