THE MIRAGE OF THE 72 VIRGINS
Farrukh Dhondy

The alienation of Britain's Muslims is the most important phenomenon
in its politics today

Ten miles from where I live is High Wycombe, an ugly town where two
men were arrested last week on suspicion of conspiring, with 22 others,
to blow up 10 airliners and make their mark on earth and heaven as the
cruellest terrorists since 9/11.

farrukh dhondy Wrote an article in a major Indian Daily, post-93 bombs. It was a veiled justification for the bomb-blasts. "when the left-wing guys blast bombs, it is for a cause, when the right wing guys (RSS etc) do it, it is for some sinister reason", or some similar argument. I forget the details.

Rajeev, you are naive when you allude to 'Parsi'. Come off it. The justification of terrorist acts is going ever more subtle! That is all I conclude.

Shaharyar, thx for the posts. I will stick to my point, all the same. Whether the author is x religion or y is not important. I know for certain that he wrote that the 93 bomb blasts were for a cause!!

Here's what the moron says, which incidentally has been obvious to non-Muslims for quite long:

'Vande Mataram against Islamic beliefs'

National song Vande Mataram is 'against Islamic beliefs' and asking Muslims to sing it would amount to 'suppression' of the community, Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari said on Sunday.

Addressing a press meet in Allahabad, Bukhari, who is also patron of the United Democratic Front, said according to the tenets of Islam, one could love one's country and even lay down one's life for it if the circumstances so demand.

"But when it comes to worship only Allah is given that honour. A Muslim cannot worship his or her parents, motherland and even the Prophet though they are held in high esteem," he said, reacting to a Central directive to states for recitation of Vande Mataram in educational institutions during a celebration on September7 to mark the national song's centenary.

"Ever since independence, all governments at the Centre and in the states have been suppressing Muslims. This proposal is yet another example. If somebody sings Vande Mataram voluntarily, I have no objections. But if people are forced to do so, it will meet with resistance," Bukhari said.

No prize for guessing as to where the loyalty of Muslims lie when confronted with either choosing Islam or the country of their residence.

>>I think Parsis are one of the most staunchly pro-Indian communities, including Homi Babha, Tatas, etc...

Exactly my thoughts...the kind of attitude is in-grained in the community's character...when the Parsis landed on the shores of Gujarat, after fleeing from the bloddied invasion of of their homeland then Persia at the hands of (peaceful...???) Islam, the local Hindu ruler asked their leader as to how what their conduct would be, if granted asylum...the leader asked for a bowl of milk and then poured some sugar in it...after mixing it thoroughly, he handed the bowl to the king and said the way sugar dissolved in this milk will signify my community's assimilation with this land...and needless to sayt, this attitude has stood in great stead all along.

Also, as Parsi community happens to be one of the most educated communities in India...wonder why it never has had problems with other communities...while Muslims on the other hand have been a major source of heartburn & trouble ever since they (or their ancestors) invaded India.

Muslims could definately learn something from Parsis community's character...but to expect them to do so would be an exercise in futility...as is evident from what Jama Masjid's Imam (quoted above) says..

Farrukh Dhondy is a buddy of V S Naipaul. So I doubt he is a raving left wing lunatic.

iamfordemocracy, would you be able to post the item he wrote justifying 93’ Mumbai blasts, how ever thinly disguised it may be.
