an obesity epidemic

aug 18th, 2006

especially among women.

this i believe is more real than the alleged AIDS epidemic in india that people have been shouting about, mostly as a way of getting more funding for their NGOs.

there is a noticeable increase in the height of youngsters (a good thing) and in the number of fat people walking around, including children (a bad thing).

the culprit: fried foods, sweets, sedentary, high-stress office jobs (esp., alas, in IT), lack of exercise (i bet your paper boy, your milkman, and your fish guy all now ride motorbikes instead of pedalling away). india has a diabetes epidemic, a hypertension epidemic, and a cholesterol epidemic.
