lokesh chandra has also written a lot about the connections between buddhists in tibet and with people in kerala, for instance the sabarimala temple was chronicled by Xuen Zang (hiuen tsang) as being 'potala' where the deity was worshipped both as a siva and as the avalokitesvara padmapani (whose incarnation the dalai lama is).
