i did notice the magnificent headgear of krishnadeva raya on his
statue in tirupati.

interesting that egyptian royalty also had rather spectacular headgear.

The same high headgear is ceremoniously worn everyday by the temple priest during his mid-day puja to Lord Shiva at the Jambukeshvara temple at Trichy. I guess this must have been a legacy of the Vijayanagara/Nayak rulers tradition for over 400 years in South India.
