Same old media antics

Now, there has been talk to control the media during terrorist attacks.  This might just be an excuse for the Congress party to censor or clamp down on news reporting as per its convenience.  We might be heading towards another Emergency like the Indira Gandhi days.  The public anger against shoddy media reporting will be used to justify muzzling the press, but the damage done by suppressing the press will be much higher.  Though our news channels leave a lot to be desired, muzzling the media is not a solution.

To repeat the obvious, the role of the media has been sickening.  This is not about the visuals of the attack.  The visuals of the terror attack were actually needed to be shown.  The problem is with the stupid talk and irritating presence of the anchors.  It would be better if they would just report the news and leave the analysis to the experts and people themselves, instead of repeating their own stupid opinions over and over again.  A solution is to turn the TV to mute and read the ticker.  The ticker seems to have less bull**** than the anchors' mouths :-)

Also, I am tired of stupid lawyers jumping over each other to fight that Mumbai terrorist's case in court, just for a little publicity.  As usual, the pathetic news media has done its bit to highlight the "sad plight" of the poor terrorist.  The media is splashing his innocent-looking pictures - a young kid at the CST station and a "suffering kid" in the hospital.  We will never learn, will we?

Also, I read about the "action will be taken" thing everyday in the papers.  Well, Madmoron, Sonia and gang, we are still waiting....  You don't have to cross the borders to catch terrorists.  They are right here, in our own lands.  A quickly cooked up NIA (how is it going to be different from other similar bureaucracy riddled bodies) and half-hearted anti-terror Acts will not help.  Either take action OR get going and let someone else do it, just stop talking about "taking action".
