I was almost feeling like there was some sarcasm there.. but then the rest of the article passes as normal. What things pass as news these days... sheesh!!
1. it's not some piddly little individual bigot (although i was entertained to see his string of "degrees" reminiscent of valson thampu's phd related to farm animals), but the institution behind it -- the baptist church. they should be sued for hate speech. they are a juicy target because they have lots of money. unlike the ku klux klan which was bankrupted for hate speech and hate attacks, the baptists will cough up a lot of money if they are sued and defeated. example: there has been a slew of murders of hindu (andhra) students in us universities. a smart lawyer can tie this to the kinds of hate speech the baptists spew out on their website, and argue that therefore the baptists be hit with huge punitive damages in the billions.
2. there should be a policy of zero tolerance to bigotry against hindus and hinduism. you can't let some of them go. do the mohammedans laugh off anything as trivial? no, they riot all the time. therefore the would-be bigots are very careful not to hurt mohammedan sentiments. but hindus, as you suggest here, will tolerate a lot of crap. therefore they will keep putting hindu images on underwear, on toilet seat covers etc. if each of these instances leads to lawsuits, noise about civil rights violations, and punitive damages, (assuming hindus will not riot and send suicide bombers) then the would-be perpetrators will think twice. you cannot be tolerant from a position of weakness. that is not tolerance, that is meekness. the meekness of lambs to the slaughter. they too are 'tolerating' being led to slaughter.
