personally, i don't like bigoted christist godmen, so i would shed no tears for him. and it's not entirely clear what he has done for andhra: but he has done a lot for christism.

I come to this blog and see this news item about the poetic justice! The first question that struck me on seeing the headline before I read the rest of the blog was whether YSR was in it. I don't think his friends shot him down though.

I generally agree with you on most things, but whoever he is, he is the CM of an Indian state, and it will be a shame if something bad really happens to him this way.
Secondly, I don't know if you call him Samuel Rajasekhar Reddy to show his Christian connections, but his real name is: Yeduguri Sandinti Rajasekhar Reddy.He is a Reddy Christian, and courts both Hindu religious sentiments as well as minorities.
Also, he is the background catalyst for BJP coming to power in Karnataka.His business partners practically run the BJP govt in Karnataka.
I also suspect that this may be a stunt to get YSR national exposure to probably promote him to national level after passing on the mantle to his son.
It looks too big a stunt for cheap local body elections.
OR is it that communists were really pissed off with their destruction in Bengal and Kerala? They might have got good helping hand from China which was also getting very pissed with Congress govt for getting too close with USA.
Besides Islamic terrorists also can't be ruled out. Remember many Hyderabadi muslims are still very nostalgic about their glorious past when they were ruling the state. And they are still very proud of their past. Also the state doesn't have it's control over many muslim majority parts of Hyderabad.
But still islamic terrorists seem less probable culprit than communist/maoist alliance.

I was very suspicious of Congress' role in the death of South Indian actress Soundarya while campaigning for BJP in 2004.

Good point. It could be a congress stunt to get him survive under some mysterious circumstances and after that he may claim it was all Jesus' miracle. i think he's a first-class jerk as a politician too -- even if there wasn't the mad-mullah-style bigotry he and his family exhibit. why should i care if he's a CM? i believe he was involved in the satyam issue to the hilt. i also believe he did EVM fraud to win the may elections.
if he's dead, i'd say good riddance to bad rubbish. i don't believe in eulogizing somebody just because the person is dead. if i consider them good, i'd say good things about them whether they're alive or dead.
i doubt if mohammedan terrorists would have bumped him off. they had no reason to, as he has been quite happy to suck up to them. it is only hindus he has been oppressing.

During his reign reports came out that xtians have been painting crosses on the hills leading to Tirumala, one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites.
What the hell is wrong with Hindus, if anyone feels sympathy for him then they should stop whining about terrorist attacks & minority appeasement because you are part of the problem not the solution.
I hope he died and did so in a horrible way but wouldn't be surprised if this is all a pre election stunt to pull sympathy votes from the millions of Hindu sheep.

In order to continue to stay in power as CM of AP, he had to find a route to the Goddess Sonia, circumventing the coterie surrounding her. He succeeded when he found that the best way to her heart was through the religion. He became her blue-eyed boy when he enabled prosyletization on a grand scale in AP and the simultaneous denigration of Hinduism. In the process, he became numero uno in AP congress. He is so much awed of the Goddess that he would not annoy her taking to her petty problems (petty for her) like injustices to AP in railway budgets, river water problems (esp. with regard to the Babli project in the neighbouring Maharastra state ruled by a congress government) etc. He would rather let AP go to dogs. AP sent the largest contingent of MPs to Parliament and is solely responsible for UPAs rule at the centre, but what has it got in return? Nothing! Is anybody in congress complaining? A resounding NO!
Now the scene has changed and the coterie will be back in action in seating and unseating CMs in AP.
It will be very difficult for the congress to find a substitute to YSR. TDP must be celebrating secretly.

The benefits of prosyletization are many, as the congress (or the Madam) found out, mainly in AP.
You build your vote bank, increase conversions, destroy the native religion (culture in the long run) etc. YSR has done commendable work in his 4 years’ rule. Unfortunately he met his destiny. It should be remembered that he was never a threat to the powers be nor a contestant to the throne, as some have suggested. He was happy ruling (ruining) his state. Thus, the ‘sudden removal’ theory is wrong.
Now that he’s no more, who will succeed him is the million dollar question for the ordinary folks, but not for the Goddess sitting in Delhi. The decision has been made. Any guesses?
The clue lies in the priorities of the Goddess. It should be ‘Jagan’ and none else! Who else will take his father’s mission forward?
A ray of hope, however! he won't be able to survive in the political arena, let alone dominate like his father did.

Nellore, Sept. 4: Hundreds paid homage to the CM’s secretary, Dr P. Subramanyam, as his mortal remains were laid to rest with state honors near Bujabuja Nellore on the outskirts of Nellore town on Friday afternoon.
His classmate and close friend, Mr Panabaka Krishnaiah, brought the body from Hyderabad to Nellore by Simhapuri Express on Friday morning.
Senior district officers, Civic body members led by Mayor N. Bhanusree, and members of different SC/ST Associations gathered at the railway station. The coffin was taken in a procession to his native village, Gudipallipadu, near Nellore town.
Security men had a tough time controlling the crowds. Dr Subramanyam’s wife, Mrs Vijayakumari Margaret, daughter Samhita and son Mani Sadharma were seen wailing inconsolably even as the relatives tried to pacify them.
Senior IAS officers, K. Raju, L.V. Subramanyam, C.Vijayakumar, B. Rajasekhar, Mrs Radha, Vinod Agarwal, retired principal secretary, Muni Venkatappa attended the funeral. P. Parusuramaiah, Collector of Ranchi and M. Venkataiah, principal secretary, government of Karnataka besides a host of high-ranked officials paid their last respects.
I cannot say I am unhappy for the death of an enemy of Hinduism. He tried to convert Tirumala into Vatican. He openly supported evangelist's dirty games. He gave reservations based on religion as well and initiated public funds for Christian piligrimage without the approval of Hindus. During his tenure, missionaries were everywhere. At last it is a relief but what is wrong with these Reddys of Andhra? They are clamouring for installing his son as CM. First of all Samuel used Reddys with his name but encouraged Christianity. In otherwords, he is only Reddy by name otherwise he is enemy of Hindus.
