i used to think the ISI had incriminating photos of bush or obama -- that's why they treat the ISI to tenderly. but it must be more. there is a lot of stuff that is not transparent in the US-pak interaction.
it's bigger even than the manchurian stuff.
there is some thought that the yanks have discovered serious mineral deposits in afghanistan and want to capture them. as far as they are concerned, a taliban-ISI run afghanistan is just fine if they can do the mining. remember how the chinese have set up one of the world's largest copper deals in afghan -- and also there are many rare-earth minerals that china has a monopoly on now (i think mostly from xinjiang). afghanistan is right next door .
that might well be the reason.
whatever it is, india is screwed.
