All India Tribal & Non-Tribal poor Student's Summit (Chhaatr-Sangam)

Inaugurated by Dr Pravin Togadia in Surat

Surat, May 19, 2010

All India Tribal Student's Summit in Surat was inaugurated by Dr Pravin Togadia, International Secretary General of VHP. The summit is being attended by Tribal students from VHP's tribal & non-tribal residential schools all India from Manipur to Halflong of Assam-Nagaland border & from Tripura's Naxal infested area Anand Bazaar to Kaprada in Dangs & from Chattisgadh to Orissa. Over 6000 Tribal & poor students are studying in these residential schools & for girls & boys there are separate schools & residences in the remotest areas of jungles to hills. Over 50,000 students already have passed out from over 148 such schools for the tribals & non-tribal poor all India. Surat Summit is being attended by 1125 such students of which 350 are tribal girls. These students from all India will show their various art & music skills as well as would throw light on how & what must be done to spread education in the remote areas that they come from. From May 19, 2010 to May 23, 2010 that is 5 days there will be discussions on many such serious topics & based on the discussion, the extensive plan for spreading education further to the unreachable areas will be chalked out.

While inaugurating All India Tribal Student's Summit in Surat, Dr Pravin Togadia, International Secretary General of VHP said, "King's power & respect is in his state may be but the respect earned due to education & knowledge is universal. In olden days Vidya daan (imparting knowledge & education) was supposed to be the biggest daan & therefore it used to be free for the taker. Therefore even the poor could learn. Now crores of poor in Bharat are illiterate because education is expensive for them. Need of the hour is that the rich & famous should come ahead & sponsor educational institutions so that the institutions can impart free education to the poor. Education is the only way to development of the tribal & non-tribal belts infested with poverty, & some places Naxal & Jehadi terror menace. Therefore, this 'chhaatr-sangam' would lead to the newer heights for the tribal development."

The inauguration function of this 5 days Chhaatr-Sangam was also attended by RSS leader Shri Pravinbhai Maniyar, All India Secretary of Sewa Shri Arvind Chauthaiwale, All India Jt Secretary – Sewa Shri Madhukarrao Dixit & Shri Arvind Brahmbhatt, South Gujarat VHP President Shri Vijaybhai Parnami & South Gujarat VHP Working President Shri Dineshbhai Nawadia.
