धन्यवादः कल्याणरामन

Sri Rama is a personification of Hindu Rashtram. Ramo vigrahavaan dharmah, says Valmiki.(Rama is embodiment of dharma). This dharma, what Gautama called esha dhammo sanantano, is the foundation of the Rashtram.

Ayodhya is the locus of the cultural memory of the nation of Bharatam, what Rishi Vishwamitra called bharatam janam. विश्वामित्रस्य रक्षति ब्रह्मेदम भारतं जनम (RV 3.53.12) His prayer, his brahma shall protect the Bharata nation.

If Hindus join in mass recitation of Gayatri mantra, we can achieve amazing things. One day in a year for liberation of Tibet, one day for peace in Kashmir and one day for the break-up of Pakistan.

Any more "amazing" ideas like this?

Things will be achieved by direct action not sitting on your asses while reciting mantras.

While you are reciting your mantra the neighborhood Ghazi's are out learning how to operate an AK 47, guess who will be massared in a riot situation the mantra and bhajan singer or the man of action.

Those who talk of direct action end up sitting on their asses debating, blaming and chest beating. They cannot be expected to have any faith in the greatest of the mantras.

Speak for yourself.

"They cannot be expected to have any faith in the greatest of the mantras."

Yeah lets just recite mantras and everything will be alright NOT.

This is the perverse interpretation given by modern Hindus unwilling to act. Just reciting the mantra without the will to act will not change anything.

In the Gita Sri Krishna does not tell Arjuna to just sit there and sing bhajans but tells him to fight.

Shivaji was not just content to pray to Shiva and Bhavani but actually went out and did something. Imagine he like you sat there and just recited the Gayatri mantra everyday, the Mughal empire would have continued on for the next 150 years. Instead he took action and helped bring down Muslim rule which is what distinguishes from the countless Gayatri mantra reciters.

We have enough Hindus singing bhajans everyday but very few Hindus who actually do anything for Dharma and that is part of the problem.

You are neither Arjuna nor Shivaji. You are not fighting anyone. You may debate, blame, bitch and get agitated -- but please don't be under the delusion that it is the same as fighting. For those like you, the best option is to participate in mass recitation and contribute to the liberation of Tibet.

Shivaji was also an ordinary man when he started genius. In fact he was also told that it was best if he settled down on his jagir and serve the Muslim sultans like his ancestors when he was young as he was unlikely to achieve anything.

The vast majority of Hindus think just like you, that is precisely why all those areas that you propose to liberate by reciting the Gayatri mantra are under occupation in the first place.

You can continue your Gayatri mantra recitation while Hindus will continue to get ethnic cleansed and reduced to a minority.

Both of you are correct...paradoxiccally :-)

For every "man of action", the inspiration is provided by a Guru who has been more of a mantra-chanter than anyone else. For Arjuna it's Krishna the non-fighter, for Shivaji it's Samarth Ramdas.

The neighbourhood Kazi too ultimately turns to his little book of Quran for inspiration.

So I say, let's have the best combination out of both of these.

Chanting Gayatri mantra twice a day during twilights would hardly take half a hr each, and the profound meaning of the mantra can provide the necessary intelligence and inspiration for the man of action. It can also serve as a meeting point amongst diverse hindus.

Ultimately it's the action that counts in the material world and one has to keep oneself upto date on the latest innovations in all fields, including the battlefield.
