This is one more piece that nails Dalrymple's pretentiousness and lie. http://openthemagazine.com/article/art-culture/an-inconvenient-truth

He is a typical westerner writing about India and very cleverly planting his colonialist as well as divisive prejudices. I have read one book(with great difficulty). I cannot remember the name. In that book at almost every instance he writes about 'upper caste' (read brahmin) with a sneer and in divisive terms. In that book he writes about Infosys as the company started by a 'group of brahmins' or something to that effect. Have we as Indians ever thought of Infosys or any other IT (or non-IT) company in that manner? This was downright mischevious. His every point was to reduce every problem in India to caste (read upper caste) and every achievement in a similar vein. We are as much to blame for dickheads like these walking all over us.

Rajeev, if the Brits can give Ramchandra Guha a pat on the back for writing about Indian cricket in casteist terms, then anything is possible.
