Saeed Naqvi (on Wikileaks): Rahul Maino has psychological problems

mar 21st, 2011 CE

i suspect saeed naqvi's life and limbs may be in some danger now.

anyway, what specifically might he be referring to?

not that i endorse what naqvi is saying: it is hearsay (says he backpedaling furiously), but i am curious what specific instances he is referring to when he makes this comment.

also, curious that none of these speculations ever appeared in the indian media before the wikileaks cables were published.

also, let us remember that a court recently fined someone rs. 50 lakh for alleging that rahul was involved in gang-rape and abduction of a young woman. so, i emphasize again, i have no first-hand reason to say anything about rahul, but i am amazed that an experienced journalist like naqvi would say something like this without good reason; and what might those reasons be? enquiring minds have a right to know about the prime-minister-in-waiting's mental state.

indeed, a friend whom i respect told me he met rahul and was rather impressed by him. this is so contrary to that comment that it should be scrutinized carefully.

¶1. (S) In a March 1 conversation with Poloff, influential columnist and political insider Saeed Naqvi commented on Rahul Gandhi at some length. Naqvi prefaced his remarks by noting that he was a personal friend of Rahul's father, Rajiv Gandhi, and a well-wisher of the Gandhi family. Naqvi was initially delighted when Sonia Gandhi projected Rahul as the heir apparent, but has since lost faith. He claims that the word among Congress insiders, including those in the coterie surrounding Sonia Gandhi, is that Rahul will never become Prime Minister for several reasons. Saying that he ""refused to indulge in gossip,"" Naqvi claimed that it is increasingly common knowledge that Rahul suffers from ""personality problems"" of an emotional or psychological nature that are severe enough to prevent him from functioning as PM.

Colombia Canal, funded by China
Nothing would alter global energy markets as much as the Chinese proposal for an $7.6 billion dry canal through Colombia, a key US ally. It would compete with the Panama Canal and involve offloading merchandise, especially oil and refined products, on the Atlantic Coast, moving it via railway to the Pacific, and uploading to other ships. Venezuela would be able to supply China and shed its dependence on oil exports to the US, its antagonist.

Was that friend Shashi Tharoor? Limbs...provide better locomotion...

:-) not shashi tharoor. another friend. he said he was surprised by the questions the prince asked, which sounded genuine (can't go into more detail without violating confidences) and not prompted by flunkeys. he had gone there with zero expectations, maybe the reality was better than he expected.

politicians learn to create a good first impression. after all, propaganda is a major part of their job. but i didn't expect the prince to strain to leave a good impression.

Rajeev

Noticed that you mutilated only the surname. Normally, you would also write "Raoul".

No point holding back now. You're already on their list!!!

non carborundum, i simply forwarded the mail, subject matter and all, from 'A'.

i would normally say "rahul nehru". why give random other names to the dynasty? did they call the mughal dynasty the 'babar dynasty' or the 'humayun dynasty'? no. so why call this the 'gandhi' dynasty? they are all nehrus.

some time back Bal Thackeray mentioned that a person gets 'frustrated' if he is not married even after he reaches a certain age ....
..maybe there is something to it.

or maybe it is a case of the err ....'sandwich'? (if you know what I mean) ..... would not be the first in the family to lean both ways !!! (not that I hold that against anybody, just to be clear....)

ghostwriter, that is a little unfair to the well-adjusted chronic bachelors around! eg. NaMo!

and i have nothing against anybody who wants to swing two ways (or three) so long as they are consenting adults not hurting anyone else (even the sandwich mullah was more funny than anything else).

i didn't even object to the likes of jimmy swaggart (caught with a hooker in a car) or the bakkes (more hookers) or benny hinn (caught bonking another fundie female). it just shows their spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, and also demonstrates that being frauds in one dimension (dogma) can easily be carried to other dimensions (fidelity).

i only object when said swingers start bopping people on the head and dumping them in wells (as in the case of godwoman seffi and godmen kottoor and puthrakkayil, as they confessed under truth serum in the sister abhaya case -- that poor gal came upon them doing a menage a trois in the kitchen of the nunnery at 2am!)
