guilty until proved innocent: how indonesia treats hindu guru

apr 22nd, 2011 CE

not so different from how india treats hindu gurus. very different from the way it treats semitic priests, who are innocent until proven guilty, and even after that. (eg. sister abhaya's self-confessed murderers).

In 2004, we were all mute spectators when the Sankaracharya of Kanchi was arrested, and humiliated.

Last year we were all mute spectators, when Swami Nithyananda was targeted, and trashed.

This year, we will all be mute spectators as the government takes over the Puttaparthi Sai Baba's trust, and has its way with it.

Whose turn will it be next year, and what will happen to them? Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swami of Mysore? Mata Amritanandamayi of Amritapuri? Some other Hindu guru?YOUR PERSONAL GURU?

Even in the 21st century, Hindu icons cannot protect themselves, and Hindu society cannot protect them either, notwithstanding the efforts of the Sangh Parivar, Subramaniam Swamy, Rajiv Malhtora, Rajeev Srinivasan, Varsha Bhosle, and....fill in your favourites here.

Looks like events with negative outcomes for Hindus in this millenium are shaping up pretty much like the last one - only at a much faster pace.

Deja vu, at the speed of Youtube!
