How to Bypass Internet Censorship

This is an excellent tutorial for the lay people to understand the reasons for "by-passing" the Internet. Indeed, the time is ripe for such user based interventions because the Government is getting increasingly edgy about the "free speech".

As described on the above link, this is defined as:

Depending on who is restricting access to the Internet and/or monitoring its use, and the perspective of the person whose access is being restricted, nearly any of these goals and any of the methods used to achieve them may be seen as legitimate and necessary or as unacceptable censorship and a violation of fundamental human rights.

The users should increasingly become aware of taking back their private lives. For example, spending too much time on social sites like Facebook, clearly increases the chance of identifying you publicly based on your activity. Infact, it is very easy to trace anyone through various means; specifically when you visit the web sites.

For best results use ONLY Firefox browser and not Chrome because it "tells" Google EVERYTHING about the sites you visit, the time spent and even the usernames and passwords (an allegation though because it sends everything to Google through encrypted channel).

These companies like Google can easily be served warrants to reveal information about unique identity allotted to each user.

The best you can do is to install Ad-block plus, No-script and https everywhere add ons in Firefox. Make sure that you also delete the Flash Cookies (the so called LSO cookies), and in firefox, can easily avoid detection by rejecting the "third party cookies". Indeed, this is very technical subject and needs a separate post to make it accessible and understandable to a vast majority of users.

On the flipside, I am looking for a good reliable VPN host, preferably European because the privacy laws in Europe are generally deemed better than Americans. Any idea/suggestion is more than welcome!

You can always use a VPN service to unblock sites. It`s the fastest and safest way to do it, much better than all the "free" proxies floating around.
